If you've been in or through Placid at all in the last month you'll have noticed a bit more capital activity than normal. Recent improvements to gate technology allow them to traverse interstellar distances without relying on costly jumpdrives. Despite this proliferation we are continuing in our efforts to make Intaki a safer and more prosperous to live and work. This month a new fleet concept the ILF developed has proven highly
successful in winnowing the resources of pirates and would be pirates in
the area. Corpmate Denak Calamari was recently recognized for his industrial efforts in the region with a position in the Vidya (Industrial) Wing of the ILF. We also welcomed new member Magelllus into the ILF, and he's already begun moving assets into Intaki and setting up connections with agents in the area.
My own Industrial efforts will be starting in a few new - or rather, old - directions. I've decided to take up some of my old research in order to fill a niche in the Intaki market I think could use some filling. I've also begun some more large scale building projects, both for myself and future corp endeavors.
My Combat efforts, along with those of my corpmates, have seen great success with our new fleet concept, eliminating several high value pirate vessels in the last few days alone. Hopefully this new concept will continue to see success in making Intaki a safer place for all.

An Update From Phalad
The following is an entry submitted by my childhood friend, Phalad Sahantun, on of the new breed of immortal mercenaries.
We've finally done it. It's taken us more than a year since our initial Uprising, but every last one of us can now proudly say that we own our own war barges. These large vessels will serve numerous beneficial functions for us, ranging from contractual analysis to improve our combat pay, neural analysis to aid in knowledge retention and mental recovery, and even machine shops to augment our weapons effectiveness. The most advanced war barges will even have facilities for experimental weapons development. It will be a long time before my own war barge's on board factories for such upgrades, but that is alright with me.
On a more personal note I'm now fully qualified to use even prototype Logistics suits and equipment of every racial design. Mind, I don't have the financing to constantly pursue contracts using said prototype gear, but I am fully capable should the need arise. I'm now working on improving my actual combat ability, something I have admittedly been neglecting in my efforts to master the art of the LogiBro. That's all for now, signing off. o7

I'm posting this today because I was a little too tired to write last night.
My patrol of the Viriette constellation went pretty well yesterday, in that I didn't have anyone fight me while I was actually looking for some action. I did attract the attention of a fledgling pirate who attacked my Occator in his Artillery Thrasher. The gate guns blew him away before I could get him targeted though, so no kill-mail.
I finished my large ship building project today, I should have a battleship ready to fly within the next few days. My planetary goods have sold well, netting me a tidy, consistent profit. And my research into more advanced weapon systems are continuing, with a new emphasis on missiles.

My last few days have been oddly disjointed. Random bursts of frenetic, often suicidal combat, interspersed with languid periods where I'm mining and catching up on the latest news in the cluster.
I've only managed to lose one ship in the last few days, but most of my targets have chosen to flee rather than engage the ships I take out on a regular basis. I'll be changing up my fittings over the coming days in the hope that my opponents will actually face me instead of retreating.
Production has been ramped up on a few of my mostly commonly used Tech 2 modules and weapons, as my stocks have been depleting faster than I anticipated. I've put a rather large batch of my planetary commodities up for sale on the Placid market, we'll see how they sell over the next few months. And I've begun gathering the materials I need for a larger than normal project over the next few days.
In less personal news, the ILF was successful in it's efforts this week, and many Intaki locals should be pleased with the much more favorable tax rates they can enjoy on their planetary exports. And I've been getting mixed reactions from the same locals on the recently announced re-election of Gallente President Jacus Roden. I'd actually been rooting for candidate Serena Nova, nothing against Roden honestly, but a President who could sing? I thought that would have been pretty nifty, even if it wasn't her natural voice.

My apologies for the absence of posts the last couple days, I had a few problems at some of my planet-side industries that required my... ahem.. attention. I tried to get back into space a few times but it was just easier to stay on the ground for most of the work that needed to be done.
Combat around Intaki has been a bit sparse, at least for myself. Either our anti-pirate patrols are having a greater than expected dampening effect on piratical enthusiasm, or they've simply moved on to areas where the pickings are easier. I'm pleased with how my hangar is slowly filling with ships that I feel will carry me through most of the situations I encounter in the area. A variety of frigates, destroyers, and now a few cruisers are available for me to take on the patrols organized by myself and other ILF combat pilots.
A few previously undiscovered material deposits have been located in and around Intaki, providing me the opportunity to replenish my Zydrine and Megacyte supplies. Both had been running a bit lower than I'm comfortable with, but with a new surplus I'm looking at producing a few larger hulls to add to my hangars. The ILF has also recently begun efforts to further improve the industrial capabilities of the constellation, with new traders, materials, and goods arriving over the last few weeks. Taxes in the area are also likely to see a dip as we work to improve the availability of goods produced locally, hopefully an alternative to hauling in goods from as far away as Jita and Amarr. More on this latest project tomorrow, hopefully!

A quiet day today, I completed a mission for my agent, destroying considerable Serpentis assets in the process. During the mission I was able to rescue a group of janitors from a prison in the area, though the reasons for their detention escape me.
Normal industrial operations continue apace, I'm hoping to have more Cruiser class vessels ready for patrol over the coming days.

Had a lot of combat today though none of it was against other capsuleers. I completed more than half a dozen missions for my agent, and though most were normal recovery or kill missions, I did have one that gave me some trouble. She offered me my first burner mission today, a contract to kill a renegade Jaguar pilot with some logistical support. My first attempt could have gone better to be honest, I rushed in with my Ishkur thinking I'd be able to manhandle the Bursts she had helping her. I was quickly dissuaded of this notion when the Jaguar promptly ripped my Ishkur to shreds within seconds of engaging. The Jaguar was only using an Afterburner, and so were her escorts, so I came back in a kiting Tristan, hoping that if I could keep range I'd be able to pick them off one by one. A few lucky shots from the Jaguar nearly killed this idea, but I was also unable to break the shield tank the two Bursts were able to sustain. My last effort was finally successful, I brought my Worm out and was finally able to break through the Bursts desperate defenses before obliterating the Jaguar at a relatively safe 18 kilometers away. I'd fit a point on all of my ships, just in case the Jaguar pilot decided to scarper off, though now it seems unnecessary. The rest of my missions for the day were much more tame in comparison, but I'll be ready next time I have to fight one of these Burner pilots.
